How to Force Palace Enlightenment

Enlightenment Chance

Only the closest 16 castles within a 20 squares radius surrounding a shrine can get enlightened, with the following exclusions:

  • Cities with a place that is currently being built or upgraded
  • Cities with a lvl 10 palace
  • Cities that has a palace of another shrine
  • Cities of a player that does not belong in an alliance
  • City that just got enlightened by that shrine
EnlightenmentScore = CityScore / (DistanceToShrine + 2)

This means that higher City Score and the shorter Distance to Shrine gets bigger chance of enlightenment.

Forcing enlightenment

To win LOU, you need one level 10 palace.  So you need a chosen city to get lit over and over again, (provided that you already have enough faith.)  (On a side note, it is better to build many low level palaces for faith then a few higher level palaces.)

To reduce the chance of enlightenment of other castles around the chosen castle, you have to reduce their score to as low as 7.  What we did was castled 16 cities around the shrine, and flattened it with cats/rams.  These castles, even when closer, has next to zero chance of enlightenment.  The palace right below it was locked before the March update, so it doesn't count.   The result was amazing.  The chosen palace got enlightened every other time and we were able to build lvl 10 palace.

  2. I don't understand what you need clarification on...

Your alliance must own the closest 16 castles/or cities around that shrine. If another alliance own a castle, then your alliance must take it. If the cities around the shrine are not currently a castle, build a castle, and then send catapults and rams to reduce it to 7 points. (You can optionally destroy buildings one by one, but it will take much longer)

Your goal is only to have one dedicated palace around the shrine. This is the only castle/palace that should have buildings in it. It has a high score so it will be enlightened over and over again.

Don't do this before you have enough faith to build a lvl 10 palace.

  3. I have a question. Since only 16 castles can get enlightened within a 20 radius...why 7 point all 16?

Can we 7 point around 15...and get enlightened on the 16th one?

  4. Of course the closest castle to the shrine should be chosen to get a lvl 10 palace. It doesn't make sense to flatten everything around the shrine.

But the reason you have to 7 pt 16 instead of 15 castles is because of the last exclusion rule: a castle that got get enlightened by two consecutive cycles.

For example, you have 17 castles numbered 1,2,3...17, castle 1 is the closest and castle 17 is the farthest away. Castle 1 is your chosen palace. Castle 2-16 (15 castles) are 7'ed. Castle 17 is a normal castle. During the first round of enlightenment, castles 1-16 are considered for enlightenment. Even though castle 1 has a great chance of enlightenment, it's not always 100% of the time. In this case, castle 2 got enlightened. Because castle 2 got enlightened, it is excluded from the second round of enlightenment. So castle 1,3,4,5...17 will be considered for enlightenment. Now castle 17 is competing with castle 1. That's why you have to flatten 16 instead of 15 castles.

  5. Very nice explanation. I knew this, being an experienced player also, but I do not have your patience to deal with the inexperienced doubters as politely as you have, time and time again. Kudos!
